Our Founder: Virginia Oakes
Get to know our Founder
From the age of seven, Virginia had a deep fascination with hair. She once said:
“I remember shaving my great uncle’s face because he had only one arm and often struggled with pain. As I grew older, I would watch my grandfather cut hair for all his sons and my cousins. When I was 12, he got tired of cutting everyone’s hair and taught me how to do it myself. From that moment on, I’ve never stopped giving haircuts, especially to people who are financially struggling.”
Now, at 54 years old, her passion for hair cutting remains as strong as ever:
“With skills I’ve honed since I was 12, I know that God gave me this gift to bless others. I want to give someone who’s down on their luck a fresh look—a new start. That fresh look can give confidence, self-esteem, and self-worth.”
In the 2 years she has been part of Cuts 4 Christ, she has given over 600 haircuts and says:
“I give every bit of the glory to God.”
